Today we did conversation about weekend using futur proche and did a timed write (not per 1). Then we talked about adjective placement and spelling (Handout). Activite de vocabulaire Ch 7 was turned in and most students finished Babar.

Devoir: Finish adjective handout and workbook page 68 #6, 7.

francais 2
Today we went over post office vocabulary on pages 146-147 and did activities 7 & 9 on pages 148 and 149. Then students worked on activite de vocabulaire for ch 5 and on the currency project.

Devoir: for Monday, prepare for prendre/mettre quiz (present, pc, and imparfait), and presentations. Do a 7-10 minute free write in journal section of cahier on your spending habits. Work on activite de vocabulaire, due Tuesday.

For activite de vocabulaire, each student should write 10 sentences using 1 or more vocab word in each sentence. For the other words (page 170) there is a choice of:
1) four fold word ladder (Fr/Eng)
2) Drawings with labels in French
3) Flashcards
4) Write a story

Today we worked on the verb mettre (see page 228 in book). We did exercise #8 in workbook, page 69, and #13 in book on page 228 in cahier.
We then had work time to read Babar and work on Ch 7 activite de vocabulary. For all words on page 246 in book, make one of the following:
1) word ladder (Fr/Eng)
2) flashcards (Fr/Eng)
3) Drawings labeled with French captions
4) sentences using vocab words

Today we did some conversation to practice speaking about clothing and reviewed answers to the workbook homework. We put the verb mettre (p 128) on verb chart and reviewed chapter 7 vocab list on page 233.

Today we went over yesterday's past participle agreement activities and then talked about reciprocal verbs (see page 155 in book). We reviewed again common verbs that take à.

Today we went over the final exam and practiced speaking in the past tense. Everyone communicated a response to “Qu’est-ce que tu as fait ce weekend.” We listened to music then started chapter 7 vocabulary. We went over page 220.
Devoir: Look over pages 221, 224 and 225.

Français 2
Today we went over the final exam and practiced speaking in the past tense in the negative. We listened to music then worked on chapter 5 grammer: past participle agreement in passé composé with direct object pronouns. Everyone has a bright green sheet with a story about our December party and some grammar explanation.
Devoir: Finish drawing the arrows to make relationships between the object pronouns and the past participles for ½ the story (up to the part about Josh & les beignets). Also, read book pages 142-143 to prepare for new vocabulary.

Today we did a graded timed write, talked about the final exam, and practiced for oral assessments that start tomorrow. Review guides are available in class (whole piece of pink paper).

Devoir: finish game board for jeu de vocabulaire. Study for vocab quiz ch 6 that will be tomorrow.

We played the pc/imp game and reviewed for quiz, then took quiz on pc/imp.
We briefly did peer proofreads of free writes to prepare for tomorrow's graded timed write.
Devoir: prepare for timed write by coming up with some material to write a film review. Use pc and imp verb forms to talk about what happened in the film.

Today we celebrated la fete des rois and practiced verbs.

Devoir: complete the board game for verbs by filling in a triangle with French verbs in the infinitive, imparfait , and passe compose forms, and writing the English translation on the opposite side of the line. Recommend including: regular -er, manger, arriver, aller, faire, etre, avoir, prendre, dormir

Today we practiced the passe compose and imparfait and reviewed qui/que on page 152#15.
We read a story, "Le message," and practiced vocabulary.

Today we turned in the answers to #7 on the yellow handout. We added pouvoir and vouloir to the verb chart (page 201) and did workbook exercises page 61 # 14 & 15.

Devoir: Complete exercises E & F on the new yellow handout. This is practice with vocabulary and articles.

chapter 6 quiz will be next Tuesday, Jan 12.

Today we turned in the drawings for "La Maison que Jacques a batie" and did some practice conjugating verbs in the passe compose and the imparfait.
We started going over vocabulary for chapter 4.

Devoir: workbook page 34#3, 35#5, and 36#6.
Passe compose imparfait quiz will be Monday, Jan 11. You should know uses of pc/imp, and be able to form verbs in both tenses. Practice the regular and irregular verbs on the verb chart to prepare.

Today we discussed articles. We did workbook pages 58#9 and 59 #10 in class and exercise #7 on the yellow handout. We took an assessment. Period 5 put the verbs pouvoir and vouloir on the verb chart, page 201 in textbook.

Devoir: Finish answers to #7 on yellow handout on a separate piece of paper, workbook page 57#6. Period 5 only: workbook page 61 #14, 15.

Today we reviewed and worked with verbs in the past, present, and future proche tenses.
We talked about the vacation using past tense. Then we worked with the verb prendre, page 168, and added it to the verb chart. Some classes did workbook page 50#17.
Then we worked on the future proche (aller + infinitif) by writing 10 resolutions for 2010.

Ecrivez (write) 10 résolutions pour l’année 2010.
Je vais + verb / Je ne vais pas + verb
Dessinez (draw) chaque verbe.
Make it look nice—to turn in at end of class ! Students who didn't finish at the end of class may turn it in tomorrow.

Devoir: workbook page 55#1, page 56 #3-4

Today we reviewed and worked with verbs in the passe compose, imperfect and and future proche tenses.

Assignment:
2009 Year in Review: Ecrivez 10 choses que vous avez faites pendant 2009 (pc ou imparfait).

2010 Mes Résolutions : Puis, ecrivez 10 résolutions pour l’année prochaine. Use the « futur proche »--Je vais + verb. Dessinez les verbes ! Make it look nice. Turn in at the end of class !

Students who did not complete by the end of class can complete it as homework.
